Lladro from Spain

Lladro main factory is in Valencia, Spain, which is on the Mediterranean coast south of Barcelona.  It is mountainous but breathtaking.  This is where The Lladro Brothers and The City of Porcelain are located, which is the home to Lladro from Spain.

Lladro from Spain (pronounced yyadro) are porcelains made from the finest quality examples of art in porcelain.  In almost every corner of the world their beauty is found in homes and businesses, and most important the fine museums all around the world have samples of the exquisite beauty of this fine porcelain.  People from all walks of life belong to the Lladro Collectors Society.  They say that there is a secret to one of the most timeless kinds of beauty there is in the Lladro from Spain porcelain figurines.

A Lladro figurine even with the tiniest of mistakes during any of the individual procedures will make a fatal flaw in the piece.  The most important part of everything else relies on the origin of the piece itself.  The Lladro family still has the say of how their porcelain creations are created.  There are creative artists who work in a place called City of Porcelain, and this is close to where the Lladro family still lives.  This Porcelain City is where all Lladro figurines are made.  It is just outside Valencia, Spain.  There are over 2,000 people who work there and most are the artists who create the Lladro pieces.

The artists who are inspired by the three founders, The Lladro brothers, are the ones that start a new idea or theme of a figurine.  The draftsmen and the sculptors also use their talents in the process of making this figurine come to life.  Everyone has a hand in the process at each step of the way.  The first is the idea of a creation of a Lladro figurine.  Many new themes become new figurines.  The sculptor makes a model in clay or plastic and from there the next process starts.  It goes through the process of how the brothers set up how each piece will be done.  Their way is still done today.

Here is a little history of the three men, Juan, Jose and Vicente.  They are brothers who lived in a small farming town in Spain.  They were talented beyond the farm life that they knew.  They decided rather than staying farmers, they were going to go to the Valencia School of Arts and Crafts.  They loved their art, each with different talents.  Juan and Jose studied drawing and painting at the school.  Vicente became a sculptor.

Once the brothers learned the art of sculpting and experimenting with a kiln that they had made on their parent’s patio, the porcelain flowers started to sell at the local market.  When they started selling more and more pieces, they decided to produce their own figurines in porcelain.  And, of course, you probably have guessed the rest of their success.  You get to be a proud owner of the most beautiful porcelain in the world.  A Lladro figurine with its tiny flowers is so unique and graceful.  They are spotted always by the flowers and the muted colors of the traditional classic Lladro porceline.

In the 1940s, when the Lladro brothers started making the porcelain figures, creating their own formula for porcelain paste and refining their manufacturing techniques, the resulting pieces are not only beautiful, but they emphasize quality of the highest kind.

Since then, people have been able to own their pieces all around the world.  We can thank the Lladro Family and the three brothers for producing their creations and sharing them with us.  The Lladro from Spain continues in the grand tradition of porcelain making.  The artists and their techniques of classic European style have given us some of the most delicate works of art today.

Please take some time now to see some of the pieces that are for sale.  Also, if you are lucky enough to be able to buy some pieces, enjoy them often.  Even one piece in your home is such a pleasure to look at.  The Lladro from Spain porcelain figurines are so delicate and charming, they are a pleasure to just look at and exquisite to display.

I hope you enjoy your pieces as much as I enjoy mine!  Thank you for finding my little corner of the world and come back again soon.
