Lots of people believe that which glass you drink a wine from doesn’t matter. There will no change in the way it tastes right? Well, it is becoming increasingly popular to have a number of sets of glasses especially for different types of wine.Mr Riedel (the famous wine ware producer) has his grandfather to thank for the different shaped glasses as he first came up with the concept of altering the size and shapes for better drinking.Ever since, people have been convinced that the theory is correct and you can really notice a difference is the drinking experience. Shaun Green, buyer for San Francisco based Wine Merchant K & L is someone who believes in this passionately, saying “It really does make a difference”. Riedel now have over 40 different types of wine glasses, but if you can’t afford, or haven’t got space for these glasses, how many are vital to own?

Red Wine – You really need a big-bowled smooth and basic glass for the drinking of red wine. This allows you to swirl the wine in the glass and release it’s flavours. It allows also a large percentage of the nasal area to fit in the glass and absorb the fine aromas. This is a characteristic that is also seen in whisky glasses

White Wine – The smaller-bowled glass with a higher rim is needed for drinking white wine. This prevents any of the precious aroma from lifting over the edge of the glass and keeps the flavours tightly wrapped up before they enter the mouth.

Champagne – The long thin iconic shape of champagne glasses is needed to drink this luxury product. The narrow circumference stops any of the powerful aromas from overpowering the sinuses whilst drinking and the long body preserves the bubbles best.

All other wines basically fit into these three categories and the three styles of glass will compliment each one well. So if you don’t own these 3, you’re not getting the best from your wines.

Antiques and Collectibles Fair

If you are one of those who love interior design and with high standards for antiques and furniture, a furniture consignment is an ideal business for you. Since furniture is one of the most progressive sections of the resale business, you can gear towards recycling your old furniture and make it seem new.

Some non-furnishing stores add furniture to their inventories or opens instant, single-furnishing setting to make their business more lucrative. They believe furniture consignment business will increase their monthly income.

Do you believe in the politicians and financial “gurus” that assure us that the hundreds of billions of “stimulus” dollars that are being printed 24/7 and thrown around like confetti are going to fix this financial disaster that we are in? I don’t–I think it is going to get worse. Sure, you are going to see the stock market, real estate market, etc., rally for a little bit. The amount of money (read: our taxes, children’s , great grandchildren’s) that the government is handing out is bound to cause a blip on the screen for a short term, but then–lookout! The long term result of all this may remind one of something that happened in Rome’s history.

In the interim, I made the decision that I wanted to take back my money (what was left after they got through with me) and control when and how it was invested. I pulled my money out of my 401K and purchased collectibles. I now have something tangible that I can hold in my hand and admire, It does not have the potential to drop to zero value, I can enjoy looking at it or in many cases using it, and then sell it down the road sometime in the future for a nice profit.

So what treasures will you find? Look for gorgeous one-of-a-kind handcrafted jewelry, stylish pocketbooks, lustrous hand-crafted furniture, plus many stunning sets of dishes and other pottery and ceramic pieces. One of my favorites is a local designer of greeting cards who uses a real hand-operated letterpress to print the beautiful designs. Another favorite is a tiny Boston company that silkscreens designs of local graphic artists by hand onto silky cotton t-shirts – I think of them as wearable art.

One of the best parts of this market is being able to talk directly to the artisan who made the product that you’re buying. If you want something slightly different, or perhaps additional pieces for gifts, you can usually make arrangements.

At the Antiques market, look for sets of delicate antique china, mid-century furniture, Art Deco objects, and vintage clothing. You’ll also find paintings, plus antique and collectible books.

A favorite corner of SoWa Open Market is the area where local farmers and artisan bakeries display their bounty. Juicy summer fruits and berries glisten like jewels. As the summer goes on, incredible heirloom tomatoes and fresh-picked corn begin to appear. You’ll also find mouth-watering local cheeses such as chevre and smoked mozzarella. Buy a nice selection of these irresistible goodies, and you won’t have to wonder what to have for dinner.

Although SoWa Open Market only operates for a scant 6 months of the year, it’s one of the city’s most pleasurable shopping experiences. Mark it on your calendar now

Does it matter really what kind of a mirror you have in your place. Would not one mirror look just the same as a décor mirror? The answer is NO, a plain mirror and a decorative mirror will not bring about the same effect to a place.

A plain mirror will definitely give the place a different look but putting up a decorative mirror will give it a more vibrant and relaxing feel. I spend just a little bit more time in the bathroom than the average person. This is all thanks to the full length mirror that I have in the bathroom. Besides helping me check myself out, it helps me relax and think things through. If you want some really good ideas when it comes to the best mirrors you can check out any of these: antique mirrors, mirrors unframed, floor mirrors

You can have one in your bedroom. two ideas come to mind here. You can have full length side mirror or get a nice overhead mirror that looks down on you whilst you sleep. Some of these ideas you just have to try to be able to appreciate the beauty they bring to a place. Another option is fitting a mirror in your living room. Depending on where you put it the place can look much larger or as if it has more furniture.

Decorative mirrors can be placed in various places around the home. In the passage way as you enter to sort of welcome your guests, in the other passages in your house just to add more life to it. Your house should really be a relaxing and comfortable environment and you can achieve this effect by installing some really eye catching mirrors in your place.

Décor mirrors are not restricted to home use only. They can be put up in your business and there they can serve you two purposes. In addition to them making the place nicer you they serve a security purporse as well. If you have offices you can have one in the reception area of your company even in your office.

Many of you have have seen shows like “Antiques Roadshow or “Cash In The Attic” and thought to yourself, “this could be fun”.

People all over the world buy and sell antiques. Antiques have been popular for years now but has gained more fans then ever due to media exposure.  People love to search the garage for old treasures that they could sell.

What is an antique?

This very simple question can also be very hard to answer.

A good antique should not only have some cultural significance but also some historical meaning that make them more desirable.

How old an antique should be is up for debate. Generally an item must be over 100 years old to be considered an antique.

What Makes a Good Antique

When looking for antiques you need to consider condition, rarity, desirability, and cost.

  • Always consider condition. It’s normal to have a certain amount of wear and tear on an item but make sure the problems are not sever enought that they drastically reduce an item’s aesthetic appeal. Look for antiques that are in good condition if you hope to make a future profit.
  • Even if the condition is not great, a rare item can still be valuable.
  • Many times an antique’s value is subjective based on how much someone like it. Buying antiques is not just about finding a way to make money and if an items catches your eye that it might be worth getting.
  • Cost of an antique is another important factor.| You need to also be cautious about antique prices. Normally you do not negotiate an antiques price. | Antique prices are often non-negotiable. Therfore, you must have some knowledge about the overall value for any item before you buy it, otherwise you may well pay too much. Also, Make sure sure you don’t fall for a forgery, fake, or reproduction. If the price seems to low for the value that you’re getting you may want to do some additional research.

Over the years antique collecting has become a very popular hobby. For beginners the question is always  ”Where do I start?” You should first understand that generally only items over 100 years old are considered an antique. Some antiques such as roman antiquities are actually labeled antiquities since they come from ancient times.

However, there are exceptions such as the automobile. Sometimes items that have a fast evolution rate can be classified as antiques early.

A good antique with potential value may also have unique features and/or be in good condition. If you want to become a serious antique collector you’ll need some shopping, bargaining and negotiating skills.

Generally older items are more rare and are therfore more valuable.Don’t assume that when you buy an antique that it’s valueable. Some antiques are very common and therefore will not be worth as much.

Antique dealers carry many different antiques that will meet most peoples needs. Cities often have certain sections in which antique dealers all set up shops.  You can also buy antiques online or remote dealers. Purchasing antiques online is by far the easiest and quickest way to find antiques from all over the world.

Other places you can check are private auctions, garage sales or even museums. When you go to these places you not only shop for antiques but also build connections. The more people you know in the antique industry, the more likely you will be to find the antique you want.

Antique collecting can actually be turned into a business by buying and selling antiques. There are many types of antiques you can collect and it’s pretty much left to your imagination. If you have a particular item you like such as garden tools or books and enjoy history then give antique collecting a try.
